Location: The Doc's Club Area is located within the Mazonia State Fish and Wildlife Area South Unit, 2 miles northeast of South Wilmington in Kankakee County off West 5000 Road. This area can be accessed from the north side via the Braidwood Lake South Access or off of West 5000 Road.
Description: The Doc’s Club Area provides walk-in fishing with limited boat access. The larger of the two impoundments in this area is 22.3 acres (Doc's Club Lake) while the other covers 4.0 surface acres (Little Doc's Club Lake). Shoreline fishing is limited by the growth of tall reed grass, which makes it attractive to smaller watercraft users and belly boaters. No improved boat access is available at either water area.
History and Status of the Sport Fishery: Lakes are evaluated on an as-needed basis. No stocking programs have been conducted at either lake. No special mercury advisory or other contaminant-related consumption advisories pertain. Based upon the limited data which has been collected on these lakes, anglers can expect to catch species which are typical for the area. Largemouth bass and bluegill have been collected in IDNR surveys in modest numbers. Other species available include channel catfish, crappie, bullhead and common carp.
Additional Lake Information: Trolling motor only. Two pole and line fishing only.
