Location: The Mackinaw Fish and Wildlife Area Ponds are located four miles northeast of Mackinaw, adjacent to the Mackinaw River, off Gresham Road.
Description: There are two ponds at Mackinaw Fish and Wildlife Are: one is 1.5 acres and the another is 1.0 acre. Maximum depth of these ponds is 12.5 feet. Both have limited access to bank fisherman due to willow growth along the banks.
History and Status of the Sport Fishery: The current fish population is out of balance with the bass predator density very low. A low oxygen event (winter kill or summer algal crash) has probably occurred in the recent past which eliminated most of the bass population.
