Fish Status |
Good | The high bass density has provided good predatory control on the crappie present in the lake. This has resulted in a low-density crappie population ranging from 9-11”.
Poor | The bluegill population is currently rated as poor with most fish falling in the 3"-6" size range. A future improvement in the bass population size structure will help the bluegill size structure.
Developing | Bowen Lake is stocked with 8-10” channel catfish on an annual basis.
Fair | The largemouth bass population continues to be defined by a high percentage of fish from 8 – 13 inches with few bass over 14 inches collected in surveys. Multiple stockings of bass over 14 inches have occurred in recent years to try and balance the size structure of the bass population.
Average | Redear sunfish in our sampling ranged from 3.5 to 8 inches in length in good body condition.
