Rank |
Fish Status |
Poor | The bluegill population has good numbers, but mostly smaller fish. Bluegill numbers are down from the previous survey. The size quality is poor with no fish over 7 inches. The bluegill population in this lake has been poor for many years. Perhaps this is due to a genetic predisposition to spawn at smaller sizes or that the bass are primary foraging on the gizzard shad in the lake.
Good | This lake supports a good channel catfish population and gets a lot of angling pressure for catfish. Only one channel catfish was collected in this survey. It was over 5 pounds and in good condition. This lake gets supplemental channel catfish stocking from the Urban Fishing Program.
Good | Largemouth bass numbers have decreased in this survey, but are still very good. The size distribution looks good, with fish in all size classes present. This lake continues to support a quality, self-sustaining bass population. Reproduction and recruitment seem to be very consistent. The lake has a forage base of small sunfish, gizzard shad, and golden shiners that supports the high numbers and quality of bass.
