Species

Rank

Fish Status

BLUEGILL

Excellent

The 2021 survey showed a lower catch rate of Bluegill (CPUE=92), however more Preferred size fish were sampled and mean relative weights were excellent (Wr=110.5). 13.3% of the catchable Bluegill fishery exceeded 8”.

CHANNEL CATFISH

Good

Three Channel Catfish were collected in 2021. These fish ranged from 10.5-15.5”.

CRAPPIE

Good

Both White and Black Crappie are present in this lake. In 2021, 25 White Crappie and 1 Black Crappie were collected. White Crappie collected ranged from 6.9-10.4”, and the single Black Crappie collected measured 8.8”. 36% of the catchable sized White Crappie collected in 2021 exceeded 9” and 8% exceeded 10”. The dense Largemouth Bass population should help keep these two species from overpopulating. Anglers should be encouraged to harvest crappie species.

LARGEMOUTH BASS

Excellent

The 2021 survey yielded a catch rate of 172 Largemouth Bass per hour of electrofishing. Bass measured from 7.3-19.8” and weighed up to 4.0lbs. In 2019, the Largemouth Bass catch rate (CPUE=282) was very high and almost exceeded the highest recorded catch rate of 311 bass per hour, which occurred in 1995. This lake has consistently produced bass catch rates of over 100 fish/hour of electrofishing. The 2019 survey catch rate (CPUE=282) was more than double the 2017 catch rate (CPUE=124). 66% of the Largemouth Bass sampled in 2021 ranged from 10-14”. The high density of bass in the 10-14” size range is keeping panfish numbers in balance and is promoting better panfish quality.

REDEAR SUNFISH

Very Good

Redear Sunfish were collected at rate of 22 fish/hour of electrofishing in 2021. Fish ranged from 7.0-8.1”. The Redear Sunfish structural indices are improving. All fish sampled were 7” (PSD=100.0) and some measured over 8” (RSD8=18.8). Mean relative weights remain high (Wr=104.8).
