Species

Fish Status

BLUEGILL

Very Good

This population is always going to have its challenges competing for food resources with Gizzard Shad. Bluegill ranged from 2.4-7.9”. Harvest by anglers will improve this Bluegill fishery.

CHANNEL CATFISH

Good

Two Channel Catfish were collected, ranging from 16.9-18.9”, the largest being just under 2lbs. It’s not uncommon to get a small sample of Channel Catfish as they often inhabit deeper waters outside the range of our sampling effectiveness during the daytime. IDNR periodically stocks Channel Catfish.

LARGEMOUTH BASS

Good

Largemouth bass are doing well in this lake. In 2017, 43 largemouth bass ranging from 3.5-20.1” were collected. Over 60% exceeded 15”, and 21% exceeded 18”. Gizzard Shad and Bluegill are providing a great forage base for largemouth bass.

WHITE CRAPPIE

Average

Five White Crappie were collected ranging from 6.7-8.3”. Anglers are encouraged to harvest white crappie so this population does not overpopulate.
