Location: Located in Lemont on Route 83 and Archer Avenue just north of 111th St. This lake, along with Sag Quarry West is an old limestone quarry.
Description: This lake, along with Sag Quarry West is an old limestone quarry. This body of water is 17 acres in size and has a maximum depth of 17.1 feet.
History and Status of the Sport Fishery: Species found here include largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, bullhead and common carp. A small population of grass pickerel is here and may be confused with young northern pike. Sag Quarry East is part of the District’s Rainbow Trout Program and now gets stocked with ½ to ¾ pound rainbow trout in both the spring and fall. This lake suffered a severe fish kill during the winter of 2013/14. An extensive stocking program is being carried out by the Forest Preserves of Cook County and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
